For the first time this season, both seniors and reserves teams recorded two wins in a row. Interestingly, the Seniors won with the same score (5-1) against Mooroolbark and North Caulfield after conceding first and losing 1-0.

Round 16 was played on Sunday 22nd of July and Heatherton United travelled to North Caulfield.

Once again Heatherton Reserves were dominant and deservedly won 2-1 thanks to first half goals from Anthony Kong and Andy Kamara.

Heatherton Seniors showed their intent from the very start. However, in the opening 15 minutes, the home team's keeper made 3 great saves to deny Heatherton take a lead.

Very soon Heatherton was punished as Cualifeld's striker Adam Cohen scored from a clinical counterattack.

However, the lead did not last long as Sergen Aycicek finally managed to beat North Caulfield's keeper. After the equaliser Heatherton kept pushing forward and eventually Ali Sanad's brace gave a two goal cushion. HT 3-1

After the break North Caulfield had more possession but it was Heatherton United who created chances and scored two more goals. In both cases our keeper Alfonso Cardinale released a long ball, enabling Michael Gerace and Sergen Aycicek to seal the win. Full time score 5-1 and 3 more points and Heatherton move to the seventh place on the ledder.

This was Vlado Vanis' fourth game as the main coach and the team finally started playing some attractive and competitive football and scoring 12 goals to make it 24 goals in total so far.

The game has been recorded by Steve Grey from Football Chaos and will be available online (www.facebook,com/footballchaos).

A week earlier, in Round 15 of the Victorian State 2 League, playing at home against Mooroolbark Heatherton reserves won 4-0. Goal scorers were Mustafa Qadiri (2), Anthony Kong and Abdullah Faqir.

Seniors had to dig deep to cancel out an early goal by visitors. The winner was decided by half time thanks to goals from Michael Gerace (2), Meldin Klehic and Owen Walker. After the break, Ali Sanad added one more to make the final score 5-1.

Next game: 28 July 2018, at Home ground versus Doveton. Kick off: 5pm rezzies and 7pm seniors.
