In round 7 Heatherton travelled to Frankston North looking to continue their push up the ladder. The game was played on another sunny day and a large contingent of United fans turned up to support the team. Judging by the recent results, United were clear favorites. However, the hosts had other ideas, knowing it was a must win game for them to get off the bottom of the table. Frankston threatened early with two consecutive corners, while on the other side United had one shot from the edge of the area in the first five minutes. In the 10th minute Frankston scored a controversial goal. After a failed offside trap, a long threw ball was sent over the United defense in front of the goals. Limic was first to the ball with the Pines striker right behind him. As Limic jumped to header the ball back to the keeper he was pushed from behind by a Frankston forward, but no foul was called to the amazement of the United defense. Pines striker then slotted the ball into the back of the net. United were struggling to play they own game as Pines fought for every ball not giving an inch to United. However, United still managed to create numerous chances but couldn’t find the target. On the half hour mark United had a penalty shout waved away as Kusdian latched onto a neat through ball as he got in to the box he was bundled over but nothing was given. Pines lead 1-0 at half time. United tried to muster a fight back in the second half, regularly getting into offensive positions, but the attacks failed to bear any fruit being too hesitant and lacking the killer touch in front of goal. Bajrektarevic had the best chance after being put through on goal from the left hand side but his shot was well saved from the on rushing keeper, who surprisingly had a great game. Coach Muriqi tried to change things around, introducing new players, but it had no affect on the final result. Pines worked frantically in defense to stop United pressing for an equaliser. With United playing a high line Pines also threatened with several quick counter-attacks, coming close to doubling their lead. In the closing minutes United threw everything in attack but to no avail. Frankston Pines rejoiced as the final whistle sounded with Heatherton United left wondering how they left this one slip. Next game is at home on Saturday 1st June, when Heatherton welcomes Peninsula Strikes. Reserves kick off is at 4 PM, seniors at 6PM.
